Guardians Emerging Stoneware Figure

£300.00

This one-of-a-kind intuitive sculpture was created using grogged stoneware clay during a multi-day masterclass I led for a group of fellow artists. In the first phase of the workshop, I guided participants through handbuilding techniques, teaching them how to translate creative ideas into form through mindful construction. These techniques weren’t just expressive—they provided the practical principles necessary to build a sculpture with true structural integrity, ensuring that each piece was not only imaginative but also durable and well-formed.

The second part of the session focused inward. I led a group meditation to help the artists visualize an image or feeling to shape from clay. For those who couldn't see a clear image, I encouraged a freer approach—simply forming the clay without expectations. As they worked, shapes began to emerge naturally, guided by instinct and presence.

This piece was formed during that process—an exploration of spontaneous creativity and connection to the material. The use of grogged stoneware adds an earthy texture and strength, grounding the form in raw, organic beauty. The texture enhances both the tactile and visual impact of the piece, making it ideal for display in a serene or spiritually focused space.
